XP Home, SP3; Satellite laptop upgraded to 500 GB hdd; recent re-install (july 2010) XP. Use Norton antivirus 360 from comcast; plus Linksys WRT160N router firewall; wireless home network, with Linksys hardwired to the Actiontec primary router thru FIOS.
Last week i ran ran microsoft Live One Scan; repaired some registry keys etc. Then i ran Rkill, then malwarebytes followed by superantispyware then reboot; until nothing more came up. I'm not exactly sure Rkill ran, because it only ran for few seconds; followed by listing the only file it stopped, which always was the directory where the Rkill was opened from; whether it be from desktop, or usb drive.
this week bsod returns;the BSOD advises to check drivers; restart shows microsoft notice "spooldr.sys error"; may have corrupted files.
(? relevant; when i re=installed XP onto new hdd, tried microsoft back-up plus some other backup reinstall programs; i ended up with confusing hybrid of folders, some from the back-ups of original replaced hdd. So it takes a while to find my active Programs folder; there are other Programs folders containing programs from the original hdd. I'd like to clean those up; not sure if it affects this BSOD problem, or not.)
thanks!
