Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I did all those things. To be completely honest I didn't understand the print file prn. It never printed. It is saved to my documents. And the last one was confusing. I did the selective start. Printer did not work there? Anyway I still cannot print a word doc. I don't know if this has anything to do with my problem but I also cannot print pdf files. Any other thoughts? Thanks.

Can it print anything at all?
If not, I would uninstall the drivers, disconnect the usb cable, then reinstall the drivers and plug the USB cable in when prompted to do so.
In the beginning there was the command line.

A thought occurs to me. When you select to print something in those specific applications, check to see what printer is selected. Something may have changed it to something, such as Document XPS printer, that isn't your printer. That happened to me a while back.
