Hello all.

I had a virus on my home computer, and after several reintalls it kept returning. It is now cleared from my home computer but has migrated to my work computer via a usb stick. The USB stick is now clear, but I cannot justify a full format and reinstall on this machine, and I recently saw another post here where someone managed to clear a similar sounding virus with help from the volunteers.

The virus seems to be a browser redirect. Every time I run malwarebytes, it picks up 5 infections, removes them, and they return after the next reboot. A file called killexe.exe appears on MSconfig > startup, along with a file with (what a I believe to be) a randomly generated name: currently it is axifu and exists in the 'application data' folder.

I would love to clear this without losing things, thanks in advance for any help.

Gary

H again all.

My post has been moved, thanks for putting it in the appropriate place, however with no reply, I am still completely lost.

After another scan with Malware bytes the axifu.exe program has been removed, and on reboot another one called behoo.exe has been created in the application data folder. KillEXE.exe has also reappeared there.

Does anyone have a clue on how to remove this infection?

Many thanks,
