I’m having a problem with 1another at this time = Toshiba Satellite M45 XP home = a friend was using it when a pop-up said he needed protection, he gave he’s credit card number then he woke up and turned the laptop off = brought it back to me, I turned it on and get window from “Security Tool” saying I have a threat = I cant go anywhere or do anything (why) = I tried F8 for Safe mode but cant choose it have to go with “normal start up” = I cannot go online = I can not go to add - remove programs = there is nothing I can do including screenshots =

you can try plugging a ps2 keyboard into the port in the laptop and trying that. Or sometimes this works for windows xp and sometimes it doesn't (depends on updates installed) try hitting the f5 key instead of the f8 key. if it works will send you straight to safe mode nothing to select.
