Alright, so first, I'd like to say that I do have a decent amount of computer experience, and I really feel I should have been able to figure this out my self... but I can't so I'm passing it along to the higher ups.
I have a laptop, and whenever I connect to my home network it works fine, usually for a decent amount of time, but occasionally the connection just drops dead. The computer can still see the router, but the router is no longer connected to the internet. I'm using a wired connection, however my friend that comes over pretty much every day is using the wireless connection and gets the exact same problem... Interestingly enough my roommate is using a desktop and a wired connection and he never experiences these issues. For all of us, however, the internet speed gets really slow sometimes, I can ping Google for about 600-1100ms when it's like this. We even went as far as to replace the router, but that didn't fix the problem, although it really seems like a router related issue, because if the computer stops connecting to the internet, but still connects to the router I can still use media sharing and connect to my Xbox 360.
Anyways, a couple months of this has gotten me pretty peeved, any ideas folks?
Thanks for your help in advance.
