Hi. I downloaded and ran the DDS.scr on my computer. The program hangs and I have to manually shutdown the computer and restart. I have disabled my anti-virus (vipre) and it still hangs. I am follwing the Bleeping Prep guide for removing malware. I suspect I have a root kit. Any thoughts? Thanks - Betty

Hi Betty5, and welcome to BleepingComputer.

I would suggest that you follow the instructions in This Guide starting at Step 6.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it HERE Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to try to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

This is the guide I am following and I have complete step 6. Im on step 7 and the DDS program hangs. My computer and IE are very slow and IE often cant load pages. I have already ran Malware Bytes and I have Vipre. I have also removed (with a removal tool) all unnecessary programs from my computer and taken as much as I can from the start menu. The computer is faster but IE is still slow and frequently hangs. Thanks - Betty

You need to open a topic in the Am I Infected forum where our members of the Malware Removal Team will be able to assist you. These members are highly trained and will be willing to help you.

When you open this topic provide a link to this topic so that they will be aware of what you have already posted.

Best of luck,

Dan
