I've run error fix or check disk in Windows and it has locked up twice. I have run the dell diagnostics and nothing found. Should I run all the anti-virus and see if there's something or download a test kit from Western?

"Locked up"...does that mean that you received an error message...or did you just assume that chkdsk was no longer running?

My experience is that chkdsk doesn't stop without an error message of some sort. A hard drive with problems may cause it to restart or run excessively long...but, if I don't see an error message, I assume that it's still running.

It would not hurt to run the appropriate long diagnostic...on the hard drive, to get a better analysis.

But the first thing I would do...is move any valued data from a drive that appears to be possibly troubled.
