This problem started yesterday.
I am using UBUNTU 10.10.
Been installed as a permanent installation for a month or so.
I have had no problems what so ever, until yesterday when I clicked on
Instead of my document folder opening up the rythembox application opens up.
Since its an application that I always have open, Ubuntu just redirects me to
the desktop where I have it open.
This also happens when I try to open Home, Desktop, Music, Pictures, videos or Downloads under
the Places tab on the top taskbar.
I can open my text editor and click on file> open file.
to open my documents, or image viewer to view my files.
But I cannot open it directly from the proper location.
I did notice that I can open the computer option under the places tap and can
navigate the filesystem this way. But I would like to fix this problem.
I did the updates it required and the optional ones.
I recently installed 'wine' and 'tovid' but it was working fine when both app were installed.
I have a external hard drive connected to the usb connection and a usb flashstick that i do not
remove from the computer. the usb flashstick is formated with ext4 and the usb hard drive is
formated with ntfs. I wonder if this is the problem. or caused the issue. when I removed them
the problem is still there. I am not new to ubuntu. but have no experience with the CLI. I did however
install 'tovid' from the CLI. and 'wine' from the ubuntu software center. I don't want to get rid of
either application. I have checked for more updates, but my system is uptodate. the rythembox works fine.
It is one application I use daily.
If any one can show me how to fix this I would really appreiciate it.
Also, on another note....Before I installed Ubuntu 10.10 permenately, I was using R.I.P. Linux.
it has a xmusicplayer. I perfer that to rythembox. or something better than rythembox.
Anyhelp would be great.
Thank you linux brothers and sisters.
P.S. LINUX RULES!!!
