Hi all!!
i have a question regarding my xp operating system.
We bought a used computer from my husbands work and it had windows 7 on it, but of course when they sold the comp they took that off. All i have is my XP upgrade disc. Is there any way i can put this on my computer WITHOUT buying another copy of an older windows disc? When we tried there was a message that said something about needing a copy of windows 95 or something like that (i apologize i am doing this from memory so my wording is not correct)
THANKS
Anj

No, the rules remain the same :).

Plain and simple...the upgrade version of XP will check for legitimacy of the user to install said upgrade.

If the prerequisite O/S is not detected during the initial check...then the user must insert a CD reflecting the qualifying O/S.

You may want to read Clean Install Procedure with Illustrative Screen Captures - http://www.theeldergeek.com/xp_home_install_-_graphic.htm , this deals with a clean install from an upgrade CD.
