I just replaced the motherboard in a Dell Dimension 2400. Windows XP Home installed fine but I cannot get the ethernet controller to install. I tried to install it with the drivers on the Dell driver installation disc that came with the computer but the yellow question mark remains by it in the device manager. I downloaded the recommended drivers from Dell but got the same results.

Every time I reboot Windows finds the controller and tries to install it but it won't recognize the drivers that are supposed to be for it. What am I doing wrong?

Hello,

Do you know model of motherboard? You must know it! Try searching drivers for your motherboard on google...
If you don't know motherboard name and model, then download SIW - System Information for Windows and see

If you still cannot find the drivers, try going to Windows Update, and install all updates in all sections including the hardware section. There should be a driver you are looking for

Hope this help?

Thanks for responding. I'm not exactly sure what the model of the motherboard is. It is a replacement part for a Dell Dimension 2400. You can read about it at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330422139619&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
