Hi all, Recently my nvidia 512mb 9800gt card packed up, screen went like a kolidascope with bad resolution, swaped back to my old 256mb 7900gt and everything was fine but this aint good enough to play modern warfare and black ops etc.
Now, I have limited tech knowledge and money and i'am getting confused over the figs of advertised cards, should i replace like for like with another 9800gt (these seem to be older technolgy now) or would a 1gig gts450 be an improvement or the same kind of spec as 9800gt, but then there is the 768mb gtx460 i could stretch too or would i be wasting money because of my PC spec. I'm the type of person who has a fear making things awkward so i havnt even looked at ATI graphics not sure if they would just plug in as a direct replacement with no change to any programs.
If you think i should consider any other changes to my system, like ram etc. please let me know.

Any advice would be greatfull

I would advise against trying to run modern games on that thing. What you need is a new computer.
