Can This Desktop Handle Basic Apps?

Can this adequately handle browsing, chat, word processing, and playback of cd/dvd/mp3

3 GHZ P-4 w/ HT, 1 MB L2 cache, 800 FSB
1 GB PC3200 RAM
160 GB 7200 RPM HD
Extreme Graphics 2

This will handle most of what anyone can throw at. However, you might notice that it seems a little slow when using the built in vid card.

I agree. The video will be your only weak link. For what you describe 64 mb Nvidia base card will be fine but in the case you decide to do some gaming I would push it to 128mb Nvidia based card. But that is me. I have nothing against ATI, I just don't have one to compare my Nvidia (Jaton 64meg) based card.
