I have a Milw. PC computer running Win XP with an AMD Athlon 750 mhz and 256 ram. I just removed the original DVD rom and replaced it with a DVD burner above my CD RW. I set the DVD RW as the master and the CD RW as the slave. I now see a message at start up that says "secondary IDE channel 80 conductor cable not installed". I tryed replacing the 40 cond. cable with a 80 cond. cable and have the same message.
The cable is connected with the blue end in the mother board. Any ideas?? Thanks, Kurt

If the Black connector plugs in to the DVDRW and the Grey in the CDRW you should be right, if you have it the other way round that may cause problems. Now you have an 80 wire cable why not set both drives to cable select (CS)?
