Windows Error Recovery problem - startup repaor gives errors

I have not been able to run my laptop since yesterday - Windows Vista, Dell Latitude E4300

I am given two option when starting up. Top of the screen is Windows Error Recovery.
1. Launch startup Repair (recommended)
2. Start windows normally

When I run windoes normally, the system just hangs

When I run the startup repair, the following details are shown:
Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically

OS Version: 6.0.6001.

i tried safemood, and it stops on:
Loaded: \Windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys
