Upon startup, I have to option to open Windows Vista or Microsoft Windows Vista. I choose Windows Vista, error pops up as soon as Vista has started up. ie3sh.exe failed to start because BHO.DLL was not found. Internet Explorer quit working, downloaded Google Chrome, worked for a month, also quit. Firefox same story. No other obvious signs of errors. Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) found no problems as well as Avast (free version).

Hi,

Your main problem is the overload of questionable toolbars where many are already orphaned keys.
It may be better to post a HijackThis log instead, because it's easier for you afterwards to deal with the orphaned keys..

But before you do, please uninstall the following questionable toolbars as well:

Fast Browser Search (My Web Tattoo)
Fb-Fans Toolbar

Make sure all your browsers are closed during uninstall.

Then reboot! Important.

After reboot,

* Download HijackThis from here:
http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/
HijackThis will open after install. Press the Scan button below.
This will start the scan and open a log.
Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

Note, please run HijackThis AFTER you have uninstalled those toolbars, otherwise it will make it extra confusing.

Encountered a few problems with deleting toolbars. "Fast Broswer Search" was not found under "Programs and Features" I did find and delete the file under "Program Files". Deleted FB Fans toolbar. Had one error with the Hijack this log. Screen shot of the error attached. Hijack this did not give me an option to Run as Administrator.

Better, still something isn't quite right. No errors at start-up but I cannot access the internet through a browser. But MBAM and Avira can both update. Internet browsers will not get back the "loading" stage. I have removed Firefox and reinstalled but no luck, so far.

Hi,

Does this affect every browser or just firefox?
Please try to run Firefox from Firefox safe mode: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
Let me know if everything is OK in the Firefox safe mode.

Right now the only browser I have is Firefox. It will not load in regular or safe mode. I tried to install Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 and 9 but cannot install either. Keep getting error message "Setup cannot continue because a more recent version of Internet Explorer has been detected on this computer." I have tried to delete internet explorer by going to "Programs and Features" in the control panel. Internet Explorer is not listed. I then went to the Program Files folder and tried to delete it manually but received error message "You need permission to preform this action." I am logged in to the computer under an administrator account. There are two internet explorers. One under "program files" (will not delete) the other under "roaming" (deleted).

Hi,

From your log, I see you had Internet Explorer 9 installed. In that case, since you already tinkered with it manually and deleted some components manually, I suggest you reinstall Internet Explorer 9 again (not 8 as this won't be able to install since you already have 9). Once you have 9 installed, then you keep it, or properly uninstall again via add/remove programs.
Uninstalling it now via add/remove programs won't work anyway since you already corrupted it because you deleted some components manually.

Just wondering, from what browser are you currently posting your replies? Or are you using a different computer?

Anyway, for your firefox, you may need to do a Firefox clean uninstall.
Read here how to do this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_firefox
This means, after you uninstalled Firefox you also need to delete its related folder under the userprofile.

Then reinstall Firefox again.

Extra note, I see you have Iobit Advanced SystemCare 3 installed. I see it has added a Winsock LSP here as well. I don't really know what exact problems you are having with your browsers (you just say they: "quit working", which is so general), but in case none of these browser connect to the internet, then it *could* be because of that Winsock LSP Advanced Systemcare installed.

Currently using another computer to post here. This is not my laptop, it is a friends. I dont know when the browsers quite working or what exactly happened to them. I do not have the option to uninstall Internet Explorer 9 via add/remove programs. Internet Explorer 9 is not listed...

I have no idea what advance system care 3 is. It was on the computer when I recieved it. I will try and delete both Winsock LSP and SystemCare 3 and do a clean uninstall and reinstall.

Internet Explorer 9 is not listed...

Yes, I know it's not listed anymore in add & remove programs. That's because you already deleted some components manually. That's why you should reinstall IE 9 again first.

Good your Firefox works again after uninstalling SystemCare3.
