I have a 45CM/45GM Foxconn mobo but Foxconn's site lists 45CM OR a 45GM. Socket 775LGA.
Currently have Intel Pentium D 2.8GHz
4GB Ram
FSB Speed 4x200 MHz (800MHz)

I want to upgrade my CPU but all the info I can find on different sites shows conflicting
advice.
Can someone plz tell me what the best possible CPU I can hope to run on my system.

Info supplied from Sandra Lite. I can add more if needed.

Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800, but the lowest price I found was $225. A bit hard to justify that.

I am a retired Ford tech. Next to Fords, any computer is a piece of cake. (The cake, its not a lie)

3770K @4.5, Corsair H100, GTX780, 16gig Samsung, Obsidian 700 (yes there is a 700)
