I have Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) and was infected by Win 7 Internet Security a couple of days ago. It did the false scan and horror messages but only on 1 user - the other 2 were not affected.

I used MalwareBytes which found 2 viruses. I edited the registry to remove various rogue entries and did further scans with Spybot, AVG and Defender - nothing else was found.

The position now is that 2 users are still unaffected but the original user cannot run programs either from shortcuts or from the "program file" directory. They can run windows explorer with a right click on the "Start" key. I wondered if this was because it was in a different directory to the other programs.

Can anyone help please?

I have found that I can right click the programs and use the "Start" command and they run! Anybody any ideas to clear the problem please?
