how can i make a vcd?

how can i convert a movie from avi and burn it onto a cd to watch on my dvd player? i tried googling it but i just get confused with all the terminology. can someone help me? and if i have something called DVD_RAM on my computer, does that mean i can burn a dvds? just to be clear i want to be able to watch the vcd on the dvd player hooked up to my tv. thank u.

If your DVD player can play DivX format then you just need to burn the AVI file to a CD and it should play.
