Hello,

Firstly, thank you for any help I receive in advance. Secondly, I got the malware through clicking on Thinkpoint (like an idiot). I have successfully removed it by running MalwareBytes and I have done 2 full scans with Avira (which also picked up another few threats). I use SAS but it seems the little blighter has found a way to disable it from scanning half way through. I have changed the file name and ran it in safe mode, all to no avail. I have run Sophos Anti-Rootkit as well, although some of the stuff that came up looked like false positives.

I am not a novice user but I guess it happens to the best of us and my pc is getting on a bit now. The exe file mshta keeps creating more so it's clear that something is still wrong. I don't appear to have any slow down or re-directions in my browser etc. No side effects (from what I can see) except the mshta.exe. I use Firefox and have Windows XP Home Ed. I noticed the thing about Java and having old Java on the pc. I didn't wanna just go and delete those until this problem was fixed. Also having just ran the GMER log an error came up and said "Generic Host Service for Win 32 has an error and needs to close". I am slightly troubled by this because win32 is the registry. My stuff was fine before but there seems to be massive slow down and errors when trying to open a minimised window.

Anyway, please find the following DDS logs. I did do a GMER scan but it wouldn't let me save it after that error. Also I would include the Sophos and Malwarebytes logs too but it seems this is the only thing I can do. I have disabled CD Emulation using DeFogger by the way.

DDS (Ver_10-11-10.01) - NTFSx86

EDIT: Just noticed that I had attached the Attach file but it now appears that it didn't after all. Could be because of the latest error to show up. I am kind of afraid to reboot my pc in case I can't do anything at all.
