I have Windows Vista 32-bit and use Windows Live Mail for my email. So I have it set to hide when minimized and it's all fine and dandy with the mail icon in the tray when it's minimized. Now, if I play a game or start up Windows Media Center or any program where it switches to full screen, once I exit the application, Windows Live Mail is minimized in my task bar. So I have to maximize it and minimize it again so it will go to the system tray. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Any help or suggestions on what I can try will greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if this will work or not, but maybe you can try right clicking on your task bar and click on "lock the task bar" (it will leave a check mark next to that option). If it works, I will also learn what that particular option is for too! Have a nice day. :busy:

How do you minimize the Windows Live Mail program to only the system tray, as I would like to try it out on my machine, and offer up possible solutions.

Minimize to tray does not work in Windows 7. You would need to change the windows live mail exe to vista sp2 in compatibility mode. In Vista, right click on the mail icon in the tray, and select Hide when minized.

I just tried what you did, and nothing happens to my Windows Live Mail. It stays in the System Notification Area.

Yeah, it used to work fine for me too. All of a sudden it started acting like this. I didn't make any changes or install anything new.
