When trying to open a movie (mpg file) the media player will open and you can hear the movie but the screen is only showing the visual design and not the actual movie. I have uploaded all available updates. I have run virus scanner and found nothing. I even used system restore back to when I believe it was working and still cannot get the movies to play. I copied the movie to flash drive and it played on another computer. I took a new file that would play on another computer and copied it with the same result of just sound and the squiggle visual designs playing. I am stumped. Any suggestions.

Do any movie files play on your system?

Consider your situation a codec issue?

I don't think it is because these are saved movies that have been watched before on this laptop but all of a sudden none will play and no new movies will play. I can copy any of them to a flash drive upload onto another laptop and they play fine. Not exactly sure how codec works but figure if it would work on one laptop it should work on the other.

Sorry forgot the other question. No none of the movies new or old will play the video but all play the sound.
