They are full versions but some may require you to register for a free license key.

Don't register. The best free ones are Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast Free antivirus and AVG Free Antivirus. None of which require you to register.

When you install an anti-virus that requires registration (such as avast), after installation it will tell you how to register it through the program's interface and on screen prompts...it is very easy to do.

I do not recommend using AVG 2011 at this time due to the number of reported complaints with this version. AVG also has issues with other security tools like Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Please read Section H here. Related discussions at AVG:

avast! requires you to register. Though in version 5.0, registration process is built inside the program so its very easy to do. Without registration, avast! free would stop after 30 days. Registration is valid for 365 days and after 1 year you will have to re-register.

I was talking about v5.0 and in it, all of the registration process is done almost automatically.
