I have checked the user accounts as well as the Microsoft Client properties, have found nothing there, but still get the Windows logon when I boot up. It hasn't always been this way and I don't recall anything that I did that could have changed it. What am I overlooking?

Well, I am a little confused because you are asking your question in a Windows 95/98*Grinler forum, and yet your header says XP. Hmmmmm....
