Hey guys, thanks a million again ahead of time you've helped me out of a jam a couple times before when i couldn't figure things out. I'd like to start of mentioning this

before i post the logs.. I've tried running combofix it won't work..I keep getting an error stating "some files could not be created, please close all applications reboot

windows and restart this application." So any help with that when the time comes would also be appreciated as i believe alot of problems could be solved by running it.

Basically though my problems seem to be browser crashing here and there but, mainly almost everytime i click on a link or address to a website i get redirected to

some kind of alternate search or something that has the sentence or words I used in the search bar. IE. if i'm looking up what does confiscate mean? and a webster

dictionary link comes up as the first search result I would click on that and it would start to go to it then suddenly say redirecting and end up at some wierd looking

search engine or "fake" site mentioning something about the word confiscate or saying something like "looking for confiscate?". Other times it just plainly redirects me

to a fake scan or says something lke there are viruses on your computer would you like to scan ect... Also my adwatch live at least a couple times a day says that it

blocked scvhost.exe from connecting to a malicious website...Thats all my info sorry for writing a book ha i tried spacing it to make it easier to read.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.

  • Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  • Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  • Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  • Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.

No one is ignored here.

Click on the Watch Topic Button and select Immediate Notification and click on proceed, this will help you to get notified faster when I have replied and make the cleaning process faster.

In order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Well, I can't run Root Kit Unhooker as when I double click on it the " load/run" bar half fills then it dissapears. If i try double clicking on it again it says that the process is already running. When i try to "kill" the process through the task manager or use of another program it says " This operation cannot be completed access denied"

I tried uninstalling it , restarting my computer and running it again same deal.

On a side note I ran superAntiSpyware the other day and picked up Trojan agent/ gen-fuffan and trojan agent/ gen/null[short] which might be part of the problem.

Hello

I Would like you to do the following.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Run Combofix:

You may be asked to install or update the Recovery Console (Win XP Only) if this happens please allow it to do so (you will need to be connected to the internet for this)

Before you run Combofix I will need you to turn off any security software you have running, If you do not know how to do this you can find out >here< or >here<

Combofix may need to reboot your computer more than once to do its job this is normal.

You can download Combofix from one of these links.
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
1. Close any open browsers or any other programs that are open.
2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.

Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Note 2: If you recieve an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registery key that has been marked for deletion." Please restart the computer

"information and logs"

  • In your next post I need the following
  • Log from Combofix
  • let me know of any problems you may have had
  • How is the computer doing now?

As I stated previously i've had trouble running combofix and unfortunately this time wasn't much different. It simply states that the download of combofix may be corrupted and asks me to redownload. I went through erased all traces of combofix that i could find and downloaded it again with the same results. I repeated that process with all 3 links and even tried changing the name of combofix to something else with all 3 none of that worked either..

Hello

Good now lets try to run combofix again, but lets update it first.

update combofix

I would like you to download an updated virsion of combofix.

Delete the version of combofix you have now on your desktop and download a new one from here

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

1. Close any open browsers.
2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.

Note:Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall
[/list]
