I purchased a Cyber Accoustics AC201 stereo headset with microphone so I can skype. It has two plugs that are color coded (pink and green) and I plugged them in the back of my computer but nothing happens. The speakers still work as normal but no sound comes thru the headset except a soft buzz. I cannot transmit any sound even though skype says my microphone is working.

I plugged the headset into my neighbor's computer and a box popped up and after checking a few boxes I was able to determine that the headset worked perfectly - sound and mike. This box that popped up on my neighbor's computer didn't pop up on mine. I don't know why the headset won't work on my computer. I assume you just plug it in - no instructions were included with the headset.

I have an older HP Pavilion 542x

I don't know if it is a driver problem or not because I don't know what that is. Sorry!

I am basically a beginner. Any help in figuring out the problem will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much.
