On my Dell WinXP Home SP2 machine, I foolishly opted to install SP3 when I rec'd an automatic message re the update. Now, when I try to boot, I get the following message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
Please re-install a copy of the above file.
I could do that, *if* I could start the machine in SAFE mode (F8 key). But I cannot get into safe mode!
Anyone have any ideas? If i can find an old DOS boot floppy, would that allow me to put the file into c:\windows\system32? And is there some way I can use the BIOS options to get into this machine?
