Hey guys, I'm at my wit's end with this microphone problem. Okay, so I have a Creative SB Audigy sound card (that I installed myself, didn't come with the computer) that works- as far as I can tell- just fine. Sound is exactly the same as ever. The problem is that my computer doesn't seem to register mics anymore- not through the jack in the audio card, nor anywhere else. Is it possible for a single jack to fail? Or is there something in the software somewhere that's "turned it off"? I mean, in the volume control sections there's always a spot to turn on the mic. Whenever I hit that, I hear an increase in white noise/static, but I never hear anything else, like the jack being plugged in, or the sound of my breathing through my mic.

Anyways, I'd love some pointers with this, I'm frankly at a loss for what to do.

-edit- pfft, silly me. I should probably add that I added the card like, a year or two ago, and the mic jack worked fine right up until prolly six months ago.
