In Windows XP using internet explorer 8. When I click on an e-mail address it usually pops up a new Outlook (07) email message with that persons email in the to: box. Recently when I click on any hyperlink in Internet Explorer I get this message.

"Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed."

I have checked the internet properties and Outlook is selected as the default mail client.
I have also checked the file types and the URL:MailTo Protocol is selected for Outlook as well.
When I do start/run/mail: it errors out as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
