I am seeing weirdness with my Win 7 64-bit computer. Similar to this thread:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic356848.html I got a firefox-update page and on auto-pilot, I clicked to let FF do its update, then realized "Ooops". I deleted the offending file but I guess it was too late...
I ran MalwareBytes and it found Trojan.Downloader (3 instances), Rootkit.TDSS (1 instance), and Trojan.FakeAlert (5 instances) and remove them all. Reboot and run a scan again and its all clean, so I think I am in the clear. Avast also finds nothing.
Then the weirdness begins. The Win7 gadgets are all corrupt and don't display (most notably the clock is a black square with a red frozen hand). Also, numerous EXE files I try to run (for example, Lenovo System Update) give me the Windows Security error: "These files can't be opened. Your Internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened" and the program won't run.
So something still isn't right and I can't get Windows to run these local EXEs despite messing with UAC, etc.
Oh, and I tried to run defogger before grabbing the logs but it won't run (because of the Windows Security error outlined above).
I have attached DDS and GMER logs, any help would be gratefully appreciated
