Hey everyone!!! Newbie here with a pretty troublesome problem that I just can't fix on my wife's computer.

Windows XP OS

Being my wife....she decided to do some crappy survey or something on facebook and got this "Microsoft Security Essentials" malware.

I immediately ran Malwarebytes and it found a few things, deleted all the items.

I then uninstalled and rebooted avira antivir, I want to replace it with Avast!

Rebooted a second time,

and now when I open the .exe file to install Avast!, I get this popup

"Setup detected that another program setup requires the computer to reboot...."

Rebooted several times in safe mode with no results.

Checked the registry values for the "pendingfilerenameoperations" , their isn't even a folder with that name in my registry

I did some research on completely removing Avira Antivir from the computer and followed all the uninstallation utilities and registry cleaners. Still same problem.....

Does this problem relate to the "microsoft security essentials"????

can ANYONE help me!

Thanks in advance,
Jason M
