Hi,

A couple of days ago I stupidly downloaded an e-book from a site that was supposedly safe. Since then, my security center has been disabled and I have been unable to turn it back on, and random audio ads keep playing, as well as ads opening spontaneously in browser windows.

I ran Malwarebytes: it found an infected registry key and 2 infected files and removed them. I also ran EST online scanner and it also found 2 infected objects. I thought the problem was solved, but later, more ads pop up and I still cannot enable my security center. I scan again with both, EST finds nothing, Malwarebytes finds 1 and removes it but today (2 days later), I am still getting random ads.

I am unable to enable my security center (Vista) from services, because when I go to services; this message comes up: 'One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX Controls on this page, or you have blocked a publisher of one of the controls. As a result, the page might not display correctly.'

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hello,

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
