I don't know what is going on. This computer is less than a month old. I have windows 7 64 bit. It hangs in the black start up screen. I ran start up repair and it said something about a 'bad patch preventing start up' and 0x490. How can I repair this? Why did this happen? How do I know when an update is bad?
I can't do a system repair because there is no restore point. I know I should've created one but I never thought a new computer would crash so soon
Thanks!

Take it back and ask them to repair it for free.

thank you..i will do that. How can I prevent this from happening again? From what I gather it seems like a bad update to Windows 7 has caused this?

I wouldn't know. Did you interrupt the patching process?

no but it won't go pass the black startup screen where the windows 7 symbol is..it stayed there for over 5 minutes (it usually loads within 30 seconds). i tried shut down and restart several times with the same result
