Hello,

I own a computer repair shop in Vermont. We are trying to test several security products for their real-time detection of malware. We send our customers home with Microsoft Security essentials installed, but lots of stuff is slipping through the cracks after they get the clean machine home. When they bring the machine back, we can always get rid of it manually, but the customers want to know why their anti-virus did not protect them. Norton, McAfee, Avast, Kaparsky, Trend, etc. all seem to let the nasties through. We have been seeing a lot of ThinkPoint, Security Tool, and TDSS Rootkits recently, but nothing seems to be stopping them from getting on the machines. I want to try the pay version of MalwareBytes, Super Anti-Spyware, and Spyware Doctor. But, believe it or not, I am having problems locating a web site with malware on it. It makes me really wonder where my customers are surfing. Anyway, the main point of this post is to see if anyone can list a few known sites that the malware lives. It would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob at Quality Computer Systems, Bennington, VT

Please read How Malware Spreads - How did I get infected which explains the most common ways malware is contracted and spread.
