My laptop just switched itself off whilst I was using it. I switched it back on, and it started up giving me the 2 options: start windows normally or the recommended option to fix the problem.

It then went to ‘loading up files’, with a progress bar at the bottom. This took about 5 mins to complete. The Microsoft corporation words came up on a black screen with the loading bar below it.

It then goes to a black screen, with a large cursor. Nothing happens after this.

This happens which ever option I go for.

I’ve also tried the f8 safe mode options, and it just restarts itself and goes through the above process.

Do you have a "repair windows" option in the F8 Advanced boot options menu?

regards, Elise
