Laptop purchase advice

Hi guys

I know very little when it comes to laptops. Basically i need a do the job, fastish, durable and reliable machine. Have had good experiences wth ibm and lenovo

so looking at purchasing one of these 2, tonight

please, if anyone has any advice in terms of the technical spec, or warranty differences please post here

I was going to post how cheap those are until I realized that the price was in pounds.

About how much does that convert to US?

Check exchange rates in the Wall Street Journal, but I believe it takes about 4 dollars to putchase 1 british pound, so multiply by four.
