I inherited this Dell Dimension E310 system but the CD player recognition program is missing. I just want to be able to put a Data software CD and install. If you know of a small download application that will allow the system to recognize there's a CD with software to download please let me know. I'm using dialup so it has to be small.
Windows XP Home version 2002 service pack 2, thanks

Are you saying that the cdrom drive does not appear in My Computer at all or that it wont autoplay?
In the beginning there was the command line.

yes it didn't show up in the my computer and it didn't work in autoplay but i went to the dell website and they had a 'fix it' app that cleared up that problem, now it works fine, but after downloading IE 8 and SP 3, many other things that once worked well no longer do, this happens every time microsoft has new stuff to update my computers with, new programs dont work properly, Download Manager does not work, on and on
