Hi guys, long time lurker first time poster.

I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64, but whenever I try to install service packs I keep getting Error Code 643. I've tried uninstalling the .Net stuff, using the cleanup tool and reinstalling and I've even tried to manually install service packs, but I keep getting this error. I've contacted HP (PC's manufacturer) and Microsoft but they just tell me they don't know why I'm getting this code. If anyone could give me any new ideas on this I'd be most grateful.

Sort of, but not quite. As I said I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the .Net framework, but this error code 643 still pops up if I try to install a service pack. I did try without the .Net framework installed too btw.

Ah, gotcha! My husband does have a few programs installed that need the .Net framework, but we had the same problem before the programs were installed.

The programs work fine, it's only when I try and install a service pack.

You keep stating "service pack" when the only SP for Win 7 is still in beta form.

Can you clarify what "service pack" you are trying to install?
