I have three computers that have been on a network and see each other fine until this week.

Computer A: Windows 7 x64 laptop
Computer B: Windows XP pro laptop
Computer C: Windows Xp home desktop

Computers B and C can see computer A, but computer A cannot see B or C.

Computer A can ping B and C but B and C time out when pinging A.

Computer A can access B and C with \\ipaddress or \\computer name, but I can't see them under network and B and C cannot access A no matter what.

The only reason I care about this is b/c all of my music is on Computer A and I want to be able to listen to it no matter which computer I am on.

Itunes wont see any shared libraries on any computer even though they are all on the same network.

All computers are in the workgroup "WORKGROUP".

On computer A network discovery is on, file sharing is on, everything is set to share, yet it cannot see anything in network in windows explorer except for the router.

Also, in the TCP IPv4 settings on computer A, it is set to obtain automatically but the default gateway in the greyed out area says 192.168.0.1

This is the correct gateway, but it shouldn't say anything and I can't get it to go away and stay gone.

All computers have microsoft client and file sharing checked.

I am out of ideas, I need some new ideas please.

I take it you can access the internet i would check all your settings in firewalls to eliminate blocking.

Ensure network discovery and file sharing is enabled on B and C computers.

Try enabling netbios over tcip.

Under advanced sharing computer A homegroup connections use user accounts to connect to oher computers rather than homegroup password.

Public sharing folders access to anyone on the network.

It may help.

I have done all that and it's still the same. It seems like it is a windows problem with computer A because it can access B and C just fine with IP but there is nothing in the network pane and itunes wont share.

Hi yeh you've joined the homegroup look to the left hand side where it says home network change this to a work network on computer A ensure all computers have the same workgroup name which i think you have already done and share all folders you want to share in explorer on computer A.

I went into services and started the Link-Layer Topography Service and now I can see the other computers and they all connect through the network pane! I have no idea how it got turned off but I will set it to automatic.

link layer service keeps turning off and I don't know why. Also the event viewer is full of DNS Client events and bonjour service errors and an schannel error which says "The following fatal alert was generated: 10. The internal error state is 10." Sounds bad. Can someone move this topic to the windows 7 forum please?

Hi thrillhouse i have asked for the topic to be moved into windows 7 might need to copy over event logs for people to have a look to get an idea.

Same model as mine link layer topology is set to manual by default i think might be a dependancy that is failing you have done malware scans to eliminate that possibility.

Hi thrillhouse check the dcom server process launcher service is satarted and on automatic and RPC endpoint mapper services is running and on automatic link layer depends on these as well as remote proceedure call (RPC).
Check dns client service is started and on auto as well.

Others may have suggestions as well.
