I have a Lenovo T61. Right now, it's running Windows XP. I'm thinking about upgrading it to Windows 7.

(The main reason for this is that MS is discontinuing support for Windows Live Sync, and replacing it with Windows Mesh, which won't run in XP. I love live sync, and figure maybe it's time to join the present and stop using XP...)

I don't mind buying a Win7 licence from MS and doing a clean install. If I do this: should I expect the T61 to run smoothly and well under Win 7?

Before you do anything, run this to find out if your system is ready for Win7.

Thanks! I ran the upgrage advisor. It tells me a "custom installation is required". That "3 system requirements passed", an that I should visit the Lenovo web site to find out more.

It lists a number of programs with "known issues" including "thinkpad ultranav driver" and "Lenovo utilities".

Not sure whether all this means it'll go smoothly, or there'll be problems...
