I need this fixed up ASAP (applying to college and all). I have Malware remover and Windows Security Essentials on it. Norton 360 near broke my computer.

I also keep seeing this lock symbol in my system tray. I`m guessing that it`s part of the malware/virus.

Last time it happened I took it to a tech and it cost me about $200. I`m currently a) pretty broke and  am trying to apply to college. If it costs me that much I might have them back everything up after they get the virus off.

I have a working computer (family computer) I can download things on then tranfer to it.

It's something the tech installed on my laptop. It works really well but now it isn't picking up anything.

That lock is probably Malware Remover. I would remove it, it looks phishy at best.

The lock popped up pre-fixing by the tech guy.

He added on MalwareBytes Demo version. I'm pretty sure he did something odd with my Norton 360 though...maybe he shut it off or something :S

Ah how do I do that? (I'm on a family computer btw).

I'm trying not to link the infected computer with this clean one.

It's an earlier version of above.

I haven't installed anything suspicious or anything. I downloaded a movie about 4 weeks ago.

My internet worked before I left on a business trip (was back on the 25th and the internet was working until then).

I don't have anything weird installed (it's all ebook readers and the basic Vista Office stuff).

You will want to update your version of MBAM and run it again.

Is there anyway to save the new file on a CD?

No nothing...I did a full scan for about 6 hours.

Ended up taking it back to the tech guy
