Combofix has worked quite well for me in the past (yeah, I know somebody was supposed to hold hand.....no offense) but I uninstalled it recently because it was hanging up and when I tried to download a new version I kept getting a messafge: "You cannot dl Combofix [1] (or) [2] (or) [3]..."

Any ideas?

Thanks,

JimVT

Hi Jimvt & welcome to the forum

Be advised that combofix is a powerful tool.
We recommend that you do not run it unless requested to do so by someone on our staff

Were you attempting to download it from Bleeping Computer?
If so, would you please post the links so that someone here can look into it.
Possibly the links got broken with the forum upgrade

Thanks!
In the beginning there was the command line.

Please read the pinned topic ComboFix usage, Questions, Help? - Look here.

With that said, please see the authorized How to use ComboFix guide.

Next you should download ComboFix from one of the following URLs:

  • BleepingComputer.com
  • ForoSpyware.com
To download ComboFix, simply left-click on one of the links above and you will see a prompt similar to the figure below.

Click on the text highlighted in blue in that guide.

Again, I ask that you heed our warning about using this tool on your own without proper supervision.
