I am stuck at the command line...

I have a fresh install of Mandrake 10.0 on a 600mhz p3...there were some packages that didnt install...I think I have a bad cd drive, and I had a bad ram stick...but anyway it boots up and says its all ok....and then Im lost in the command line. I installed the gnome gui
what is the command to start it up?

I have been reading for hours.. on the web and I cant find anything

thanx

startx
The fact that X did not start when you boot up could be
a more serious problem.
You can type "dmesg" (no quotes) at the command line
and it will spit out a lot of info about what possibly
caused any errors.
