Hello all,

I'm having a small problem, due to a recent virus, my PC will no longer boot Windows Explorer. All I can see when booting up the PC is the XP Bliss background (yay). No Start Menu, No Task Bar, No Desktop Icons, No Nothing!

I have tried running explorer from the the Task Manager, but I get the following message:

"Windows cannot find 'explorer.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."

Obviously I cannot hit the 'Start Button' because Windows Explorer is not running.

Before all of this happened, it seemed like I was getting slammed by Trojans and my Norton was working overtime to keep them from getting in. So I did a search on the net and found that if I run Ad-Aware, it may solve the problem. I ran it, the Trojans left me alone, and everything was fine for a few days.

I turned the computer on this morning, and I get nothing. To do anything, I have to run processes through the Task Manager.

I know there are other topics similar to this posted on the forum, but I'll be honest with you, when it comes to having to do internal work on the computer, I would rather be able to work with someone rather than going on the advice somebody else posted for another user.

If you can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
