Hello, my lingering problem is I cannot access the Microsoft update site to update my Windows XP.
I get a bunch of clicks and then: "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view". Sounds almost like a pop up blocker but I am going almost insane disabling and enabling the Windows pop up blocker trying to solve this And I have deleted the Google pop up blocker. And it's probably not that at all - I don't know – help!.

And - I had to delete the Google and Yahoo toolbars from both Internet Explorer and Firefox as after any searches in them clicking on any of the hits were misdirected to advertisements and advertisements that try to look like search sites. If I go to the Google search site I'm fine. I guess I can live with this but any links I click on any web pages are also now sometimes (most times) misdirected similarly – again – help!

This all started with a nasty program called “Antimalware Doctor” that tries to look like a program telling you all kinds of things are wrong with your computer and wanting money to fix them.
At the same time my volume control??? and Windows firewall were disabled, both Google and Yahoo toolbars in both Internet Explorer and Firefox were hijacked. clickable links now go to advertisements and I cannot up date Windows.

After hours and hours of trying I believe I have got rid of the Antimaleware Doctor and restored my Firewall and volume control but all the other problems persist.

These all got by and were not solved by any of my AVG virus protection, Ad-aware, Spybot, Malwarebyte’s Anti-Malware, SuperAntiSpyware, Troojan Remover, Hijackthis or Fixwareout – and others
I have run these programs over and over with no help. And so many other things, host files, reg changes – nothing helps.

I cannot access the Windows update site, clickable links misdirect me to bogus search or ad sites and if I use Google or Yahoo search toolbars in Internet Explorer or Firefox I am misdirected.
I am at my wits end and am so enraged I believe I could end the lives of the people doing this if I could get my hands around their throats.
I’ll post the results of anything you ask, please help me.

So it now just not being able to update my Windows and being misdirected on links and searches in Google or Yahoo toolbar.

I know this is long but I wanted to be complete – thank you for your time whether you can help me or not.

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
