Hello

I have followed the instructions as instructed by Orange Blossom following my posting (with the same topic title as this one) on 23 October. I managed to follow all of the instructions listed on the link below without any problems:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html

The problem on my PC relates to unwanted pages loading whilst I surf the net. I am often having problems trying to actually view websites as they get over-ridden by google-analytics.com and several other websites.

Please see the DDS.txt below, I have also attached attach.txt + ark.txt files:

Hello there,

You have a rootkit, so let's shake that sucker loose, shall we? :)

Download TDSSKiller.zip
  • Extract it to your desktop
  • Double click TDSSKiller.exe
  • Press Start Scan
    • If Malicious objects are found then ensure Cure is selected
    • Then click Continue > Reboot now
  • Copy and paste the log in your next reply
    • A copy of the log will be saved automatically to the root of the drive (typically C:\)

Thanks,
tea
Please make a donation so I can keep helping people just like you.
Every little bit helps! :)
You can even use your credit card! Thank you!

Hi Tea

Thank you for your quick response. I downloaded TDSSKILLER and ran the scan - 1 infection was found and cured. The problem of google-analytics.com is still there though (ie websites I try to log on to get redirected to google-analytics) You asked that I paste a copy of the log in my reply, please see below:

Hwllo,

So you're still being redirected after you rebooted your computer? I want to be sure before I ask you to do anything else. :)

Thanks,
tea

Hi Tea,

Yip, that's correct. For example, I have just tried to log on to wiggle.co.uk (sport shop website) and the bottom left of the screen just reads 'waiting for www.google-analytics.com', the screen just stays blank and I am unable to get on to the wiggle website. Frustrating!!

Thanks again for your help on this :)

Thanks for that. :)

This tool is not a toy. If used the wrong way you could trash your computer. Please use only under direction of a Helper. If you decide to do so anyway, please do not blame me or ComboFix.

* Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply please.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

If you have trouble running it the first time, then rename ComboFix.exe to mamameeya.exe and try again.

Thanks,
tea

Ok, made it. Think Combofix may have picked up on a virus or two. Here is the log:

Hello,

Yep, it sure found some stuff all right. :)

* Open notepad - don't use any other text editor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quote box below into notepad:

FCOPY::
c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\userinit.exe | c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Posted Image

This will start ComboFix again.

After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply.

Please also let me know how it's running after that. :)

Thanks,
tea

I can now log on to the various websites without the google-analytics problem :)
Additionally, my surfing seems to be a LOT quicker now?!?! Is that even a possibility??
This is awesome stuff - you asked for the contents of txt so here it is:

Hello there :)

That's great! :thumbup2: Yes, it's possible your browsing really is faster. You may have been dealing with tiny problems before this major one came up, and that's why the first tool I asked you to run didn't completely solve the problem....also ComboFix deleted some orphans in its first run. While they may not have been bad, sometimes leftovers do cause slowdowns.

Your build of AVG is way out of date. We're way beyond version 8, so that needs to be updated.

Uninstall ComboFix by doing the following :

Click Start>Run>Type in, or copy and paste ComboFix /Uninstall > click OK

Do you have any questions? If so, please feel free to ask! :thumbup2:

Thank you so much - I have updated to AVG 2011 and the combofix has been uninstalled... If you are ever in London be sure to drop a line because I think I owe you a drink or three.

Great work and thank you once again!!!

You're most welcome! I haven't been to England in several years now....right now a pint of Stella would suit me fine, and I don't drink!

Have a great week!
