When I sign off my pc........the task manager comes up and prompts me to end session or cancel....with skype.exe listed as the problem with the task manager. This didn't use to happen, but now almost every time I use the pc, I have to sign off using the end task manager. Any help is appreciated,
thanks.

Do you have Skype as a startup?
If so, do you need to have it as a startup?

I probably do (don't know how to check really) I have gone into skype properties and haven't found anything to that effect. If it is a start up, and I stop it.....then would I have to manually turn it on each morning, enabling any skype phone calls to come thru...and if I manually turned it on each morning...would it turn off in the evening w/o using the task manager?
thanks for putting up with a novice
I appreciate your help!

I have the same problem. When you close Skype, does it just minimize, too?

I don't have to be on skype for it to hang up my task manager. But when I am, I hang up skype, x out of skype, then turn pc off, at which time the end task manager comes up, and I have to hit end or cancel. I hit end and it looks like its shutting down, but when I return to the pc later, the pc is still on, not online but still on.

Well, if you use Skype regularly as your phone service, then you have to have it as a startup.
I thought, you're using it just occasionally.

Try to reinstall Skype.

Try to reinstall Skype.

I do use it 3 or 4 times a week for video conference only. It's just annoying but I will re install skype per your suggestion.
Thank you sincerely for your help.

loaded skype's latest 5.0 and that problem seems to be resolved, although I can't say much for the quality of the new skype program, but that's skypes problem.
Again, thanks for your help.
