winxp tab ed sp3 on thinkpad x 41

Does it matter if I uninstall from the Start Menu rather than Add/Remove or do they both just use the same procedure? I have a trial version of Presto Pagemanager to uninstall.

I would use the add/remove programs module just because it is a habit for me but either one is fine is suppose.

suggest going to cnet (trusted website) and download revo uninstaller. open revo and all your programs will be listed. double click the program you want to delete and follow instructions. this program is much better than windows add/delete program. revo deletes everything for that program.

If you are referring to the uninstall option that comes with some programs and may be shown in the Start > All programs > program name here > remove\uninstall insert program name here. Then it really does not matter. If you use Add\Remove it is calling up that very same uninstaller.

i completely agree about revo uninstaller. Get it fast because it is going (or has already gone) to shareware.

Thanks everyone,

Yeah, I meant Start > Programs > etc. In the past some programs' uninstall instructions said it was better to uninstall that way and some articles said to use add/remove programs. I didn't find any uninstall info at newsoft and it seems to me these days it doesn't matter - windows installer/uninstaller is consistently used now or something. Except there are programs like Norton, Nero, Roxio and Office where you need to download and use a clean-up utility.

I'll look into nevo. Add/Remove does leave folders & supposedly registry values.

Does win 7 offer any improvements in the install/uninstall area?

No it is the same, as said the programs uninstaller is launched through the add/remove program managers same as with other versions of windows.
