Referred from here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic354395.html Clarifying with OP about whether could run DDS or GMER. Please do not move topic. ~ OB

I am running windows 7 on my desktop pc , I am posting this forum on a laptop
when my pc starts it gets to the desktop , and thats when the problem starts ,
a windows explorer window opens up on my desktop and says windows explorer has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution to the problem , then the window changes to windows explorer is restarting , then it goes back to windows has stopped working again , it just keeps doing this over and over ,
I tried starting my desktop in safemode but i havn't been able to do that for a while , i was told that I couldn't get in safemode because i had a wireless keyboard and mouse , I tried a wired one , so I plugged a keyboard and mouse into the usb, and it still didn't let me get into safemode, when that screen comes up to move the arrow to click into safe mode , the keyboard don't work.
I am running AVG 2011 and i am able to start a scan fro the desktop in regular mode , but at some point it stops , the AVG may have not been up to date when this started acting strange , and I just installed this new avg , shortly after is when this looping thing started with windows explorer.
last week I added a new video card and a new Blu ray rom , but it was fine all week , I did try to get some free blu ray burning software, so I may have got some type of virus of malware,
so what can I do to fix this PLEASE
thanks to all who reply
PLEASE PLEASE help
Here is the first scan log

ok , so after I did this two scans with Malwarebytes , its still doing the same thing with windows explorer

I would like to add that my older son told me when he was on my PC he was having a problem running windows media player, he went into the task manager and ended the process or process tree for windows media player and he also ended the process or process tree for a explorer or iexplorer , or something to that affect , he said there was 2 or 3 of them running , and right after that was when this problem started , could this have something to do with it , is it possible that this is not malware or a virus , could he have done some damage to the PC , and if so what can I do ??? Thanks and HELP !!!!!

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit scanner. Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Why we request you disable CD Emulation when receiving Malware Removal Advice

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

How to create a GMER log

Casey
