What are your system specs? How much disk space do you have? How much is free space do you have?
I would run through a few cleanup steps to make sure your system is running at its full potential.

1. Run a Disk cleanup. How to- http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;186099

2. Run scandisk. How to - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;186365

3. Run a defrag. How to - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;186171

I like to run these in safe mode to ensure there is nothing that will interfere with the process.

How to - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-windows-in-safe-mode/

Let us know if that helped.

In Internet Explorer and Mozilla empty the temporary files, delete the cookies and all off-line content and relocate the temporary internet folders to one of your empty partitions. Reboot and see if it helps.
Ctrl+F5 should update your news pages.

locate temp folder in my empty drives but find none

My suggestion was that you move your temporary folders to an empty drive.
In Internet Explorer under Tools>Options>Temporary Internet Files>Settings there is a 'Move Folder' button where you can specify a new location for the temporary files. I suggest size <=200MB.
In Firefox well it's a little more obscure -

To move Firefox's disk cache, use about:config to create a new preference. (This is another hidden preference that doesn't appear until you create it.)
Type browser.cache.disk.parent_directory into the dialog box that appears, then click OK. In the Value dialog box, enter c:\folder, providing the foldername in which you wish the file to be located.
This and other networking and cache settings are sparely documented by a Firefox developer called Ben C. on his NetPrefs page.

- from http://www.sfbg.com/tech/firefox_install.html
I'm suggesting you type (E: or F: or) G:\<foldername> instead of C:\<foldername>.

hth

Rimmer do you know the batch file to create a ram drive, assign the temp and cookies to it so when the computer restarts the temp and cookies are deleted? Been many moons since I worked in DOS.

Acklan - don't know that, sorry.

muneerjafrani - what kind of internet connection do you have with cablenet? Cable modem to USB or Router? Have you tried powering off the modem? Have you called your ISP to see if there is a test they can run to check connection speed?
If you have the 'two small computer screens' icon in the taskbar (they flash green when you download or upload data) right-click on them and see what speed you are connecting at.

Try running an online anti-virus scan e.g. one or two of these -
Panda Active Scan online - http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
Internet Explorer only. Requires email address. Requires Active-X components to be installed. Approx 12MB download.

BitDefender online scan - http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php
Internet Explorer only. Must agree to a EULA. Need to allow installation of an Active X component. Some of the options are not clearly explained.

McAfee online scan - http://www.pcpitstop.com/freescan/

Security Advisor (?) - http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx

Trend Micro Housecall - http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/enterprise...call_launch.php
(European version, supports Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox and Opera)
or http://housecall.antivirus.com/ (IE only)

Kaspersky - http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
Link to 'Online Scan' at the top rhs of the page. Requires IE and Active-X components.
"does not scan RAM, boot sectors and MBRs, so it cannot detect malicious code located in these areas."

Go to http://performance.toast.net/ select the 'Shuttle + Text' option and click the 'Run Test' button. Post back with the 'Your result' number.

Macafee which detect two infected file but couldnt clean, delete or quarantine.

What were the full filenames?
Did you run any of the online scans, if so what were the results?

Uninstall Yahoo mesenger. You can download it and re-install it later if required.

Does the system boot correctly in Safe Mode? Run your McAfee anti-virus scan there.

AdAware sometimes will show the registry HKey that control the virus. If you can idendify the key it maybe helpful.

Ouch! You would be better off with dialup. Have you inspected the coax between your computer and where you service start. I assume you have a dish. Inspect the LNB(the device at the end of the boom that sits in front of the dish) on the dish and the coax it self. Replace the rubber insulator around the end of the cable. Make sure you connectors are tightly crimped to the coax and that they are not loose where they screw in. Some rodents chew on the insulation. A break in the coax can degrade your signal.

Your connection speed is no good. You should do what Acklan advised then, if you don't find the problem, contact your Service Provider to get your installation checked. Has anyone been near the satellit dish recently who could have knocked it?
