Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

Please include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Please refrain from running tools or applying updates other than those we suggest while we are cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so we know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

Even if you have already provided information about your PC, we need a new log to see what has changed since you originally posted your problem.
We need to create an OTL Report
  • Please download OTL from one of the following mirrors:
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the Posted Image icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • In the custom scan box paste the following:
    msconfig
    safebootminimal
    activex
    drivers32
    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    winlogon.exe
    wininit.exe
    explorer.exe
    hlp.dat
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    %systemroot%\system32\*.dll /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\Tasks\*.job /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\system32\drivers\*.sys /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\System32\config\*.sav
    %systemroot%\system32\drivers\*.sys /90
  • Push the Posted Image button.
  • Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:
    • OTL.txt <-- Will be opened
    • Extra.txt<--Will be minimized

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. I suggest you do this and select Immediate E-Mail notification and click on Proceed. This way you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

After 5 days if a topic is not replied to we assume it has been abandoned and it is closed.

regards myrti

is that a bird?  a plane? nooo it's the flying blueberry!

If I have been helping you and haven't replied in 2 days, feel free to shoot me a PM! Please don't send help request via PM, unless I am already helping you. Use the forums!

Problems:
Laptop takes a lot longer to start up/boot. When using GMER, still have the Blue Screen of Death (c00021a).
I did not recognize this file, here's the image (Highlighted in RED):
http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/3341/67371609.jpg

The original file ImagineUpdate.exe. doesn't have "_" in front of it. This has _ImagineUpdate.exe as you can see at the above image.

Same goes for Kitsu Saga.
Image: http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/8300/98752734.jpg

I've read somewhere "_" is a virus/malware and or backdoor Trojan.

It wanted to create a process when I used the client update. The file is too big to upload it to an anti-virus hosting site because it is 20.1MB and the max to upload it is 20MB. As you can see, it also modified the process key. It didn't happen before, now it has.

Used Svchost Process Analyzer:
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/8490/45479712.jpg

Unknown IP:
239.255.255.250
224.0.0.251

I haven't enabled any proxy and don't know how to:
IE - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings: "ProxyEnable" = 0
IE - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings: "ProxyOverride" = *.local

Cmdguardsys and Unknown Module:

Hi,

I can't see those images so I will just go through the points you spelled out.

1) Gmer crashing does not implicate anything. It can crash and does so when no malware is present. Please run rootkit unhooker instead:
Please download Rootkit Unhooker and save it to your Desktop
  • Double-click on RKUnhookerLE to run it
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan
  • Check Drivers, Stealth, and uncheck the rest
  • Click OK
  • Wait until it's finished and then go to File > Save Report
  • Save the report to your Desktop
Copy the entire contents of the report and paste it in a reply here.

Note** you may get this warning it is ok, just ignore

"Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself!
It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?"

2) More important than the name would be the location. So could you please give me the full path of those suspicious files? the fact that they contain a _ does not make them suspicious per se.
3)Wanting to create a process, means that it is executing something. That is not per se a suspicious action either. (What tool gave you that warning?) If you click on update within the program and the program launches the updater this will qualify as creating a new process. Can you please spell out the modified process key for me.

4)The IPs you have listed are multicast IPs, those only work within a network. I would suspect that this is your PC looking for other machines on your network, but would need more detailed logs to confirm. Disable the SSDP discovery service and see if those stop.
5)I am not sure what you are saying here. Do you want to enable a proxy, but don't know how to do it>
The registry entry you quoted says there currently is no proxy enabled. This is the default MS setting.
6)cmdguard.sys is the driver from COMODO. There is nothing unusual about that. Security programs use stealth features to hide themselves from malware.

regards myrti

is that a bird?  a plane? nooo it's the flying blueberry!

If I have been helping you and haven't replied in 2 days, feel free to shoot me a PM! Please don't send help request via PM, unless I am already helping you. Use the forums!

1) Ok, the images are there to help you out if you ever need it=p.

2) The _ was created from the client itself. For example, I clicked on "ImagineClient", I checked the Comodo Firewall and it listed as "_ImagineClient" instead of "ImagineClient". It also created the file _ImagineClient and the newly created file (_ImagineClient) is located in the same folder as the client.

As for Kitsu Saga, it has 2 different named files in the same folder(Launcher and _Launcher) and it does the same thing. _Launcher was created 2 weeks after the original file Launcher was created.
The path of the files are located in C:\AeriaGames\KitsuSaga\Launcher.exe and _launcher.exe. At first the file was blocked, than it was allowed to modify something. Multiple instances of modifying a file: http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/5143/32653481.jpg

3) OK, when I checked the Comodo Firewall, it listed as:
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe > Create Process, Block File > C:\AeriaGames\Megaten\ImagineClient.exe

4) The funny thing is, I already disabled SSDP LAST WEEK and these showed up=\. I input it into the comodo firewall to block it from transmitting anything
outside of this laptop. It also came from Windows Operating System (Application).

5) Yes, I want to enable a proxy...a free one if I can*_*.

6) I used the Tizer Rootkit Razor and it flagged the Firewall as an application that installed multiple hooks to the system.

7) Is it normal when a file flagged as "Modified Key"?
C:\AeriaGames\Megaten\ImagineClient.exe > Modified Key > HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\DirectInput\VID0D62&PID_0530
It happened a couple of times and I don't know why it would have modified anything.

Thanks!

1) Ok, the images are there to help you out if you ever need it=p.

As mentioned before, I can not view those images, hence they don't help.

Is this something Comodo told you or did you check for yourself?

As for Kitsu Saga, it has 2 different named files in the same folder(Launcher and _Launcher) and it does the same thing. _Launcher was created 2 weeks after the original file Launcher was created.
The path of the files are located in C:\AeriaGames\KitsuSaga\Launcher.exe and _launcher.exe. At first the file was blocked, than it was allowed to modify something. Multiple instances of modifying a file: http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/5143/32653481.jpg

This is why I would never suggest using the Defend thing from Comodo, it si completely useless because it alerts you literally to eveyrthing that is done on the PC, without discrimination whether it is good or not.

3) OK, when I checked the Comodo Firewall, it listed as:
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe > Create Process, Block File > C:\AeriaGames\Megaten\ImagineClient.exe

What did you do before that happened?

4) The funny thing is, I already disabled SSDP LAST WEEK and these showed up=\. I input it into the comodo firewall to block it from transmitting anything
outside of this laptop. It also came from Windows Operating System (Application).

There may be other services doing the same thing. Anything that is checking for a printer or network shares, will send out tests to look for those.

5) Yes, I want to enable a proxy...a free one if I can*_*.

A proxy is normally used, when you need to go through a different computer to access the internet. Mostly this applies to big company networks and similar. Why do you think you need a proxy?

6) I used the Tizer Rootkit Razor and it flagged the Firewall as an application that installed multiple hooks to the system.

That's what Firewalls do, nothing unusual there. This is also the reason why we sometimes ask to disable all seucrity programs before running a rootkit scan.. it shortens the logs significantly.

7) Is it normal when a file flagged as "Modified Key"?
C:\AeriaGames\Megaten\ImagineClient.exe > Modified Key > HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\DirectInput\VID0D62&PID_0530
It happened a couple of times and I don't know why it would have modified anything.

Because settings are stored in the registry. Settings change, the registry needs to be changed. The registry key refers to external hardware like joysticks, mouse, cameras, etc.

When did you install Zonealarm, could it be the cause for the slowness?

1) Oh><. Why can't you view the images? Just wondering even those were uploaded to imageshack^^;

2) This is something I checked myself and checked the Comodo Firewall. It wasn't consistent with any of the program I used.

3) Any suggestion for a different firewall? I already used Online Armor and it was ok...

4) For the client, all I've done was double click on the Imagine client and the warning (created process blocked), was listed in the firewall.
Unless I've "sandboxed" the client, the warning won't show up in the firewall log.

5) I don't have a printer installed except the itunes thingie. I also downloaded and installed peerblock and used the list to block multicast IP. For a proxy, I rather be safe then sorry...just in case=3

6) Oh><. I didn't know I had to stop the security programs from running.

7) As for ZoneAlarm, I never installed it before o_o. As for these following firewalls/anti virus, are these still installed?

Ahnlab Anti Virus
Computer Associates Anti Virus
Kaspersky Anti Virus
McAfee Anti Virus
McAfee Firewall,
Panda Anti Virus
Panda Firewall
Sophos Anti Virus
Symantec Anti Virus
Symantec Firewall
Tiny Firewall
Trend Anti Virus
Trend Firewall
ZoneLabs Firewall

Thanks Myrti^^

Hi,

my internet provider blocks photobucket, so I can not see those without extra effort. I did check the images yesterday night and it seemed to me, that most if not all of them are the Defend+ addition of Comodo targetting normal and legit processes.

3)A _ is not a sign for a virus. As to why the program is doing this, you might have to check with their programmers.
4)This is exactly what I said above: You double click the file to launch it, Defense+ kicks in, says OMG someone has started the program, it must be malware and blocks it, you see that the program was launched in the warning list of Defense+ and believe that something bad is going on, since Comodo blocked the execution of a file, when all that really happened was that you started your program.
7)Zonealarm was a mistake, I meant Comodo.. I've been using the two alternately and keep mixing them up. Sorry.

My advice would be to remove the defense+ component of comodo and only use the firewall.
